Intra City Couriers

Need to send something within your city? Perhaps a spare part needs to be sent to a client or a signed contract needs to find its way to your new supplier. Whatever the reasoning or the requirement, there are a plethora of intra-city courier options available in UK cities (and larger towns). It’s an exciting space, with a wide-ranging number of options for moving your consignment through the city streets!

What service do they provide?

Same city or intra-city couriers offer movements from one location to another, within the same metropolitan area. They are quick and convenient, providing safe package for your consignment!

What are the different types of transport?

Whilst couriers that operate primarily within one city will often have vans (similar to those that travel further), they will also primarily operate a number of other options which are better suited to congested roads, lack of parking and difficult access! Below we look at an overview of these options:

Motorbike:

• More cost effective than a car when delivering a package, utilising motorbike couriers can reduce costs for your business when transporting high-value packages
• Motorbikes are easier to navigate through traffic than cars and are not impacted by traffic in the same ways cars are. This means that if you are transporting a time-sensitive package then it is more likely to be delivered on time

Bicycle (similar to the above but with these added benefits):

• They can handle more than you think – a cargo bike can handle up to 200kg loads!
• They are even more cost effective than motorbikes (which are cheaper than cars) – as there are no fuel costs and they are easy to buy and maintain, bikes can offer cheaper alternatives for delivering your goods
• They are good for the environment – no fuel pollution, which is only a positive

Walking/running:

• There are now even walking/running couriers. Yes, they are limited in the items that they can carry, but they are great for short distance, quick transportation, ideally for documents or similar consignments
